FEMALE EDUCATION IN NIGERIA

Girls education is one of the most efficient ways for ending poverty in Nigeria ,the benefit of their education are seen by individual ,their families and through out the environment .
Girl child education is one of the major problem that often gives minimal attention in Nigeria,whether a girl should be educated or not is an unresolved issues in the latex of most cultures in Nigeria with disparities between the education that boys and girls receive.
expert have identified socio cultural patterns religious misconceptions ,poverty ,teenage pregnancy and early marriage as factors against girl education .
I In Nigeria we often see girls hawking items of little value that hardly justifies the hours spent in the burning sun and associating with men that have no future .
The parent of the girl child especially the mother consider their daughters as a tool of income to the family due to poverty and illiteracy instead of sending them to school .
Nigeria has been part of the developing nation this is because of our inability to harness her resources towards sensitive areas that need special attention like the girl child education.
however Nigeria recognizes education as a fundamental human right and is signatory to the major conventions for the protection of the rights of children and woman ,especially the convention on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women . The Nigeria government has been working in active collaborations with international development partners such as the UNICEF ,DIED,UNESO,USAID,CIA world bank as well as civil society and non government organisation [NGOs] to achieve EFA/UBE goals.
